ABSOLUTELY, no matter what those religious beliefs are, these men and women answered the call of duty and defended their country.

No we should not.

Should non-Christian military people that are eligible to be buried at Arlington be allowed to have a marker that represents their religious beliefs?

1. The memorial was on federal land.

2. It was maintained by the Forest Service.

3. A family member of a soldier that the cross was errected to honor (one of the WW I soldiers that died) asked for a Buhdda symbol to recognize their relative.

4. The Forest Service said no.

I posted an article that gave the information a few days ago.

Yes, but unless they tell us why they refused, we are just guessing. They could have a valid arguement for not placing another memorial on the land.

What would be a valid reason for the federal government allowing the religious symbol of some soldiers on federal land but not allowing the religious symbols of other soldiers to be next to it?

They allowed it 70 years ago. maybe there are further considerations now, such as vegetation or animals that would be impacted negatively by having construction going on at the site. Now if they allowed the cross 2 years ago, and didn't allow Buddha or whomever is wanted, I would have an issue with it, but as they have not currently allowed any others, then I won't jump to the conclusion that the only reason they didn't allow it is because they had a problem with the religious aspect unless that is stated.

No need to jump to conclusions. Review the case and see where these issues have already been brought up.

Since you would have an issue if the cross was erected 2 years ago, will you have an issue if they try to replace the cross that was stolen today?

I would have an issue with replacing it yes. Unless the land was held by a private party. THey should have just years ago transferred that portion of land and the cross to the VFW (who originally donated it). Congress it appears blocked that, and had the cross covered up. Now it's stolen... I think that there was way to much ado about nothing in this case. If they were having issues with the cross being on public land (they were) then sell it and move on, and maybe no religions/crosses should be on public owned property.

Here is the National Cemetery at Arlington: http://www.arlingtoncemetery.org/images/Wr...image%2001.html

Notice if you look closely, the soldier's religious affiliation is carved into the headstone. My husband is buried in the new National Cemetery in Dixon, Ca. The headstones reflect all faiths. Moreover, clearly few bothered to read the official transcripts of what the bruhaha in Mojave was about - a fact reflected by some of the specious arguments here.

I read articles on the case and came to conclusions. Please elaborate on what the bruhaha is all about if it is different than what I posted in that link and the sublinks inside the story.
