Maggity Ann is our colt (Psylebrty of Fame's) momma!!!!

I can't say I blame these people for stopping the auction, and inviting people to 'make offers'. I'm sure they had hoped for a better turn-out, and when the prices were going so low (especially for that Monogramm daughter 3-in-1 package), they probably didn't want to take further loss in their investments. These people have NICE, NICE horses, and yet prices were too dang low on the majority!!!! And yet we continue to hear people say, "Oh my numerous sales this year are great!!!" Uh huh!!!! This is a farm with excellent stock, excellent bloodlines, excellent trained backgrounds, etc., etc., and look at the prices!!! Yep, some people may be having NO PROBLEM SELLING, but I can't imagine they are for more than peanuts (for the most part) in comparison with what they have in on their horses. JMO of course.

QUOTE(Ricochet @ Dec 4 2005, 10:56 AM)
They only "announced" one "NO SALE" as the sale was going on and that was on Maggity Ann (Magnum Psyche x Kalila Ann). She was "NO SALED" at $6700!!!

I totally agree with Venita about the prices and unrealistic reserves that they had set on many of their horses, for example psonia vf nice regional quality mare but 25,000 reserve is quite high for the current market, IMHO. Not to mention when I was finally able to get the owners on the phone I got a very sour taste in my mouth when I had to listen to him bash how the auction was run in Ohio, as well as how uneducated he thought that the attendees were at the sale in regards to the quality and pedigrees of his horses. I decided after that conversation that I would not be attending the sale and giving him any of my money.

Psonia VF had a reserve of $25,000?!?! WOW. I went to Randy Sullivan's today to pick up my colt, and she's back at his barn...Definitely did NOT sell, nor did the Marwan filly and many others I thought had sold. She had a reserve on her, and the bidding did not reach that. Rumor has it only a few horses actually were sold, but I'm not sure how true that is. Apparently they had quite a few upset people when they stopped the auction, too. Glad we only spent $1,000 there...Though the free meal WAS delicious.

yes Psonia and several others were at the ohio auction ...now if you had put your horses threw 2 diferent auctions in 2 states wouldnt you reconsider your reserves....if your animals were not selling??? the ohio auction was very well ran and i sure would/will go buy again....(the owners consignments anyway)

I imagine in any case the Addis auction was much better run than this one. It was very difficult to locate horses before the auction, for one thing. My colt is home and seems to be handling his new life away from mom well, though we shall see, LOL.

I talked to Karen and Tim before thw auction. There were three broodmares I was interested in RA Allabaska bt DWD Tabasco, WCA Mon Ami be Monogramm and Sanamina by Sanadik El Shaklan. Tim said they all had reserves of $7500 on them. I thougt it was a little steep for broodmares even though they had great pedigrees, I was buying these horses sight on seen. Came across the one Gene had in the sale, a week before the sale. Gene had pictures and a video tape to me in a couple of days,we liked what we saw and picked her up. What did the Monogramm daughter sell for?

I believe the Monogramm dtr was a 3-in-1 package. Foal at side, and bred to High Noon, and I believe she went for $4,200 or barely over that.

sounds pretty disappointing on both sides..The people that traveled there for a horse, and the owners for not getting a decent price...But,I can't beleive they would just stop the auction like that...what if people traveled very far to get one of the horses auctioned towards the end...Well, I guess they could make a offer on them at the stalls, but still??? I told someone about the Eternety filly because they had wanted her for sometime since Jeff and Jerry Shall had seen her at region 10...I am curious if he went or not....He was traveling from Wisconsin...I once sent them an email about the Eternety filly, which they bought from me, that the man wanted to try to buy, and I never received a reply...

I have met Tim Beitz and he seemed like a very nice person...I have been told by some of the people and trainers they bought horses from, they had just started into the breeding in like 2000,2001 area and had been on a buying spree to build up their stock for like 2 yrs ,buying alot of mares and fillies...They bought alot at the Ventura sales, including the Psymadre breeding package and the BeyShah mare, and a couple of the Psymadre fillies, mine was bought along with the JK Amadaus mare at another trainers place,etc...But by late 2003 found themselfs with 140 something horses and now are deciding what they need to keep or don't need, to get the herd down..But yet I beleive they would do well to hire a barn manager and let him/her take care of the sales since they don't seem to have time to keep up with it...They don't even put pictures of the sale horses on their site, only the stallions and the stallions foals...Makes it hard to buy with no pictures to look at...

Now I went to the Esrepke/Enzo open barn and most of their mares and fillies had a price tag of 25,000...One double HBB black mare in foal to Enzo, was set at 6 figures but don't think they sold to many either..Many of them were just not worth that amount nor the mare with the 6 figures...

Don't think many actually sold at the Passion sale. Even think, that some folks thought they bought a horse , but didn't. I had contemplated going as I was interested in a couple. Glad I didn't make the effort.

However I did bid by phone on one of the colts, but he didn't sell at all as I understand it. His price after the auction was was high. This is a soft market right now, but hey... if you can feed and care for 100+ head of horses in snowy Illinois, then more power to you.

I saved a lot of money by staying home, and I am sure what I am looking for will come along when least expected.

I spoke with Tim at Scottsdale about the Psymadre filly Jasmyne VF, He was going to send me a vidio. I spoke with Tim two other times this year about this filly and he was going to send me a vidio on her, never did, although he continued to advertise her for sale. The only way I found out about the sale was when I inquired about the filly the 4th time one month ago. I have since bought another Psymadre filly that I am very happy with.
Passion Arabians does have very nice horses and I hope they get the $ they are asking for them but, I am a little shy to deal with them any more.

The Monogramm daughter sold for $5,500 with the colt at her side & in foal for next year to PA Hi-Noon. This is my weanling colt out of her (we went in with her new owner to buy the colt). WCA Mon Ami's new owner is extremely excited about having her, and rightfully so!

Not every horse for sale is a one in a million. I had inquired on one of their horses for sale this year & did not get a response. No big deal. Another farm, in the business for years, wonderful reputation, but had changed ownership in the past few years really dropped the ball for a sale. I inquired on one of their horses before or during the Buckeye, went out to view the stock during early June. By mid-end of June I still was not given a price. I would have bought the broodmare I wanted, regardless of price. They also had a new A Temptation filly I really liked, but no price, no price, no price. Then he even tried to suggest I round out the package w/ a show ready CEP mare w/ no price. I'd ask for price, he'd say he'd have to talk to the owner, then he'd talk to the owner & no price. And I'd throw out there what I'd pay & still no idea if either one of us was in the other one's price range. They were also slow @ getting back to me which really agravated me. So when I assume he was finally calling back w/ "prices", I was pulling in the drive of a beautiful, successful farm, truck, trailer & checkbook in tow. I said sorry, I gotta go, I'm looking @ a horse today & probably taking it home w/ me. After that, he'd have the secretary call, still no prices & I had bought another horse. This past Oct he e-mailed me & said the broodmare I wanted was still available, wanted her placed by mid-Nov. I realized she must not have had her foal which was due Sept '05 if she was to be placed by Nov. I called him, I e-mailed him, no responses to either. Mostly I think it was because I questioned whether she had the '05 foal or not. A wonderful senior mare, located only 40 minutes from me, would not have had to endure long travel & could have had a forever home w/ me even if she never got in foal for me. Too many people drop the ball in these sales. I'm not going to dance the tango. If I like your horse & I want to buy it, give me a price & sell the darn horse. Somebody else out there has one that I'll like, maybe even more. They are not ALL one in a million!

You see, this is part of what's wrong with the current Arabian horse market. Everybody expects someone else to subsidize their Arabian horse habit. Buyers these days think sellers are obligated to take heavy losses on their horses so that the buyer can have a truely well bred or well credentialed horse. Unless these mares were not the caliber their breeding would indicate, I would fully expect to pay that kind of money for that caliber of breeding. And you wonder why no one is breeding anymore? This is why. As far as I'm concerned, if your not passionate about the Arabian breed, take your money and go buy an $800 QH or Walking Horse or whatever. I'm tired of people running around in $30,000 SUV's, wearing $300 shoes spending $100 a week to eat out, complain that $5000-$10,000 is too much to spend on a good Arabian.

Well, maybe that is why there was a low turn out and why people were walking out the door left and right. I guess I was in the dark on these reserves and stayed to the end! HMMMMM Did anyone else hear "NO SALE"????? With reserves like that, there's another reason to just sit and NOT bid.
I personally would NEVER hold an auction 3 weeks before Christmas.

This is wholeheartedly agree with. Especially with gas prices high and everything else going on right now. There were at least 3 major Arabian auctions (2 internet- Ventura Farms and EquineProAuctions.com and Passion's production sale) that concluded this past week. Right before Christmas and in a tight economy seemed kind of odd to me, too. Addis' Tattersalls wasn't that long ago, preceeded by Pegasus' auction. Perhaps we're all "auctioned out".
